COLUMBIA

Become a memberPublished for members since 1987, COLUMBIA: The Magazine of Northwest History features generously illustrated articles by leading writers and scholars on a wide variety of historical topics. The magazine examines the continuing dialogue between past and present as well as the relationship between local history and the broad pattern of regional or national events.

COLUMBIA Conversations is a new podcast series launched in March, 2018, takes readers beyond the printed page. COLUMBIA's editor Feliks Banel interviews contributors to the magazine and talks with interesting Northwesterners about the people, places, and events of Washington's past and their influences on today. Listen to COLUMBIA Conversations here or at ColumbiaConversations.org.

Hear the current COLUMBIA Conversations podcast: In this episode, host Feliks Banel speaks with Dave Beals of the Washington State Historical Society about work underway for a groundbreaking exhibition, McNeil: Washington's Forgotten Island Prison, opening in January 2019.
