FACING WASHINGTON: Students' Perspectives of Washington State Governors
FACING WASHINGTON displays the products of a pilot project in the Olympia school district integrating art history and political history. Students selected a former governor and researched his or her life achievements, producing a biographic paper. They also worked with an artist-in-residence to produce portraits of the governor they had researched, and we are proud to display these works of art on our website.
GOLDEN DREAMS: The Quest for the Klondike
GOLDEN DREAMS: The Quest for the Klondike was a major historical and photographic exhibition appearing at the Washington State History Museum from July 1997 to June 1998. This online exhibit retraces the path to the Klondike Gold Field from Washington in 1897 and 1898 through the lens of celebrated Northwest photographer, Asahel Curtis.

NORTHWEST IMAGERY: The Photography of Edward and Asahel Curtis is part of a multi-unit curriculum project developed by the Washington State Historical Society and KCTS/9, funded, in part, by a grant from the Washington State Superintendent of Public Instruction. The online exhibit features photographs from brothers Edward and Asahel Curtis, comparing and contrasting the work and motivations of two of Washington's finest photographers.
