[Quinault canoe paddle]
Quinault canoe paddle, 1870-1900. Handcarved from yew wood and unpainted. The transverse grip was carved as a separate piece. The shaft is flattened. The junction of the blade and shaft is a smooth curve, and the blade is leaf-shaped, widening slightly, then narrowing to the tip in a smooth curve. The shaft is slightly bowed.
