Trinket box, made of argillite, Haida, 1890-1920. Parts include: a) box; b) lid. Rectangular box made in nontraditional style, with raised inner edge in box, small indented base. and straight sides. Lid fits over the raised areas and is flush with sides. Edges of lid are sloped. Top is decorated with carved Northwest Coast formline design of an animal face with large ovoid eyes and elliptical mouth area. Border made of face forms that have elliptical to round eyes. The design is set in a rectangular within a larger border.
