The photo shows the vessel from the stern just as a good size wave is crashing over her, leaning her to starboard. On the shore is shown part of the small settlement of Seward, Alaska with snow on the ground. There are several people on shore near the vessel. The S.S. Dora was later repaired and returned to service. She was known as the "Bull Terrier" of Alaska.
