    Black and white ca. 1910 image of the Bicycle Tree Snohomish, WA. This large cedar tree was hollowed to allow bicyclist to ride though. Next to the tree is the dirt road that leads into town. It became popular to have your picture taken next to this local attraction. A man shown here has his right hand on the tree above the metal meshing that was probably installed to protect it from animals. There is a written note on the back of the photo indicating that the man is possibly Captain Charles Madison of the Fort tender(steamer) Major Evan Thomas built in in 1904 for the U.S.Army at Ballard.
