Pen made of light brown/tan colored wood with gold metal fixtures. Pen has black ink. Inscribed on lower side of pen: The Longhouse / Education and Cultural Center. Inscribed on upper side of pen: at The Evergreen / State College. Case made of similar wood with darker wood ends. Top is curved and hinged with a brass pin. Inscribed on top of case is a brown hand with illustration of a house at center. It is made in Northwest Coast Indian art style. Inscribed across top in brown letters: Still Visioning... Lid opens to show hollowed out curved interior. Long shallow depression at center interior of case holds pen. -

Creation Date: early 20th century?Catalog ID: 1993.0.1017Large drumstick/beater made of leather (chamois?) and wood handle, Plains culture area (?), early 20th century? The beater is stuffed with a soft material and is sewn with leather strips around the outside. Black stainining on the white skin. The beater is flattish on sides and somewhat oval shaped. It is tied to a handle with black leather strips. The handle is slightly curved at center. The ends are carved to tapering on either end. The lower end is carved into the shape of a human fist. A hole is drilled through it; attached with short leather strip are two small hawk type feathers which are dark brown and white. The handle is stained or burned black. -

Creation Date: 1900-1950Catalog ID: 1998.22.663Ceremonial banner, used by Independent Order of Odd Fellows, 1900-1950. Manufacturer unknown. Made of dark blue polished cotton and backed with maroon cloth. All edges decorated with gold metallic thread lace which leaves a scalloped edge. Lower edge has additional gold metallic fringe with pair of tassels hanging from higher points of scalloped end. Painted on surface in gold are several designs. Beginning at top is a hand with heart form at center, then a pair of angels kneeling on a coffin like structure. Below is an ax and a Christian cross with snake wrapped around it. At lower end is a depiction of Earth showing the western hemisphere. Intertwined around illustrations is scroll design in narrow green lines. -

At center is larger black hand holding a pair of pink flowers with black stems (carnations?). -
