    Pair of mountain climbing boots worn by Joachim Oldenbourg, 1920-1940. Boots made by Buffalo Company (?). Boots made of stiff black leather with hard toe and heel, thick soles and heels, lace up fronts. Boots have high uppers, tongue, and loops behind back of top. Stamped on outer upper edge of each: Buffalo. Attached to soles are cleats and tricouni with four notches on each. Interior cleats have three notches. Stamped on each triconi nail: Tricouni / Brev 4 / 613 Suisse.

    Climbing helmet used by Howard Stansbury, Mountaineers member and member of the Mountain Rescue Council, 1960-1975. Oval shaped and domed helmet with hard outer shell. Interior lined with white foam piece or rubber. A pair of canvas straps crisscross the top of the crown. Around interior from about ear to ear area, is wide strip of black leather with cutout holes for ears. Canvas strap extends from side to side and has a metal ring for adjustment. Three snaps on front edge of exterior. At center front is printed last name of the user in gold letters on a yellow background band.
