Printed on front: SNOQUALMIE PASS/ U.S. HIGHWAY 10-WASH. -

[Mt. St. Helens Ski Patrol backpack]
Creation Date: ca. 1950Catalog ID: 2016.53.1Backpack used by Bud McKee, Longview, WA, ca. 1950 (?), while serving on the Mt. St. Helens Ski Patrol. Pack is rectangular, made of tan color canvas that is machine stitched. Pack mounted with metal rings to metal pieces attached along wood frame that has canvas wrapped around it. Attached to this piece are canvas straps that have wool felt shoulder pads attached. The front of the pack has a long flap that folds over the top and covers a pocket that is closed with a brass snap. Long narrow canvas straps attached on either side. On outer side of the flap is the logo for the Mt. St. Helens Ski Patrol. The name is in round border around an illustration of the mountain. Behind it are illustrations of downhill skis and ski poles.
