Adult size S (28-30); machine stitched; made of 50% preshrunk cotton/50% polyester blend material. Material is mottled gray with fleecy lining. Pants have elastic waist with drawstring. Pants taper to cuffed hem with zipper extending 9" along seam. Proper left leg decorated with illustration of a ball (volleyball?) with blue border with white dots. Printed at center of ball is blue map of Washington State with WIAA in white and blue lettering. Extending down leg in large white letters with blue border: State. Also included within this collection are some of Torney’s early school records. Missing from this collection are Torney’s correspondence during World War II and his teaching records. The records are divided into several series; awards, biography, clinics, coaching information, correspondence, College Swimming Coaches Association of America, high school championships, photographs, publications, retirement, scrapbooks, theses, and yearbooks. Scrapbooks, publications, and coaching information files constitute the majority of the collection. Scrapbooks contain chiefly newspaper and magazine articles. Further, they cover schedules, correspondence, photographs, notes, programs, meet results, telegrams, pamphlets, newsletters, memoranda, tickets, awards, postcards, and team member list. Scrapbooks are arranged by date, size and function. The coaching information files also encompass similar types of documents. However, they also include bulletins, mailing lists, radio and press booklets, and rules. Finally, the publications files are comprised of articles, magazines, and books. While many of the magazines included articles written by Torney, all of the books incorporated in this collection were authored by him. This collection details the growth of swimming as a competitive sport at the University of Washington. -

Knee length pants (b) have elastic at knees; red and blue trim down outside of each leg; large back hip pockets; button fly; wide fabric belt loops.
