The boy in the front of the group has his picking box tied at his waist. He is wearing baggy pants and a shirt that seem too large for him. Another boy kneels behind him displaying his berry box on his upper thighs. The boys and women are wearing large brimmed hats or bonnets. Most of the pickers have larger wooden fruit-picking crates on theground at their feet. Probably raspberry bushes are in left background behind the pickers. A shed is in right background. -

He wears a fake beard, moustache, and wig, and stands with his arms extended in front of him. He wears a costume consisting of a white gown, and his suit sleeves are visible at the edges. His trouser pants appear to be stuffed into thick, patterened socks. A sign on his chest, hanging from his shoulders, has the text: Golden Potlatch, Seattle, Wash., July 15 to 20, 1912, around the edges of a Northwest Coast Indian style face called the Potlatch Bug, the symbol of the event. A wood carving of the same symbol is mounted on a wooden pedestal behind the bearded man. A river appears to be flowing in front of evergreen trees in the background. -
