He wears a fake beard, moustache, and wig, and stands with his arms extended in front of him. He wears a costume consisting of a white gown, and his suit sleeves are visible at the edges. His trouser pants appear to be stuffed into thick, patterened socks. A sign on his chest, hanging from his shoulders, has the text: Golden Potlatch, Seattle, Wash., July 15 to 20, 1912, around the edges of a Northwest Coast Indian style face called the Potlatch Bug, the symbol of the event. A wood carving of the same symbol is mounted on a wooden pedestal behind the bearded man. A river appears to be flowing in front of evergreen trees in the background.
