    White cotton canvas gaiters (a, b), used to keep snow out of hiking or ski boots, 1942. Closure is comprised of metal grommets and hooks which a shoelace is woven through. A synthetic leather strap with a buckle for adjustments goes around the underside of the boot to keep the gaiter in place. From Hood Rubber Co., 1942. Used by US Army on Mt. Rainier during World War II.

To left are downhill skiers; to right is ski lift. On lower edge is image of Paradise Inn; at top is Mt. Rainier. Border decoration of crossed skis over every other rhododendron and leaf decoration. A commemorative packing in 1998 for the Great American Beer Festival. On top of carton is application form for entry into contest.
